The weather and hydrological surveillance alerts and warnings in force for tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, 2026, in the different countries of Central America are conditioned by the displacement of Tropical Wave No. 42 and its interaction with the low pressure systems of the region.
The following are the official surveillances issued by the civil protection and meteorology establishments of each country:
🇵🇦 Panama (SINAPROC / IMHPA)

Warning of Surveillance for Rains and Storms: Valid for the entire national territory, with special emphasis on the Central Mountains, Tierras Altas de Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Colón and the Guna Yala region. Significant accumulations are expected due to the passage of Tropical Wave N. ° 42.
Hydrological Surveillance (Flood Risk): Alert to the probability of sudden floods of rivers, streams and occurrence of waterheads on the slopes of the Pacific and the Caribbean.
Landslide Alert: Strict monitoring in vulnerable areas and mountain slopes due to high saturation of soils.

🇨🇷 Costa Rica (National Emergency Commission - CNE / IMN)

Yellow Alert (Raised Surveillance): It is maintained for the Pacific Slope (North, Central and South Pacific), the North Zone and the Central Valley. Authorities are monitoring the development of heavy, widespread thunderstormed downpours.
Green Alert (Information): Activated for the Caribbean slope, prone to intermittent rains due to moisture drag.

🇸🇻 El Salvador (Civil Protection / MARN)

Short-Term Storm Surveillance and High Intensity: Preventive Notice for the Volcanic Chain and Northern Zone Bordering Honduras. Authorities monitor the high probability of falling local branches, trees and raffagose winds associated with thunderstorm systems in the late afternoon.
Risk of Urban Settlements: Active surveillance in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador due to drainage collapse.

🇬🇹 Guatemala (CONRED / INSIVUMEH)

Lahares descent surveillance: Permanent monitoring in the volcanic chains, specifically in the complexes of the volcanoes of Fuego and Santiago, because the rains predicted for the afternoon can mobilize pyroclastic material towards the ravines.
Mass Movement Monitoring: Surveillance in road sections prone to landslides in the West Altiplano and the North Transverse Strip.

🇭🇳 Honduras (COPECO)

Surveillance by Scattered Showers: Preventive and informative green alert for the mountainous regions of the west, central and south of the country, where the convergence of wind and humidity will generate precipitation with isolated electrical activity.

🦺 General Security Recommendations
Relief agencies remind the population:

Avoid crossing rivers, fords or flooded rags.
Secure roofs and windows in the face of the possibility of strong winds during storms.
