If one takes the time to read all of the different BBS systems, FBB, MSYS, BPQ, etc. each author
has their own idea what White Pages really do and how they should be handled, in the real days
of Packet Radio BBS'S WP'S were sent to a single WP server, updated usually every 24 HRS, then
sent out from the WP Server as a bulletin.
One big misunderstanding about WP'S by some BBS sysop's is if a message is sent to a user
that is in the BBS WP database the BBS will know the route the message will need to take
to the receipt, this would be great but not true.
As i mentioned in BPQ but did leave one part out, in the WP section setup of BPQ the sysop
has the choice to send WP'S as a Bull or Private to one or more partners, in the same
section there is an option to reject WP'S as a Bulletin.
FBB'S WP option has two options, if the sysop enters WW or USA FBB will automatically send
the WP'S as a Bulletin, how ever if the sysop enters one or more call signs FBB will only
send as Private.
N9PMO only send to 7 partners, rejects all WP'S sent as a bulletin, one way or the other the
WP'S sent from N9PMO as private do end up populating threw the BBS network.
Last are WP'S 100% really needed? I think this is a question non of us will ever agree on.
We all try to do our best with our BBS systems I think that is all we can really do, I hope
this makes some since.
