GE all, and welcome to the June 8, 2026 PCL Net.
No early checkins. Net order is Daryl, Bob, Carl,
Scott, and whoever else shows up.

Sorry I missed last week...a power and internet
outage knocked me offline, and I just heard another
transformer blow. I hope that's not a weekly ritual.
I have several changes in the interim.

First, I had to reinstall Windows 11, and all
related software. Second, I had to order and install
a new printer and scanner (I have 3 dead ones now),
and this one is a refurbished HP 2800e printer, scanner,
and copier. It wouldn't detect WiFi, but when I attached
the printer USB cable, it found it. I was hoping to
get with the InstaInk program (with a 3 month promo),
but I could not get the setup deal to work right. I'll
try to get online support later tonight or tomorrow. It
arrived last Thursday, but I could not set it up until
now due to weather.

The best part is that I'm now NK5LA; it stands for Nathan
K5LA horns on the Amtrak trains...in tribute to my late
uncle, K3VRM (SK), who gave me my love of ham radio and
trains. You can see the new eQSL and QSL cards on my QRZ
Bio...and my websites are back online.

Unfortunately, the replacement batteries for the UPS units
were the wrong size, so they have to be returned. It may
be September before I can replace them, as I have to save
money for the Huntsville Hamfest in August...I will be
doing a forum there, but not sure of the day and time just
yet.

We had severe storms the last few days, including 3 tornadoes
in west Arkansas, and a few more in north Arkansas. We are
approaching 25 tornadoes now, and our average is 36. They
have issued a Heat Advisory for Tuesday, and that may be
extended.

GE Bob, how was your week?? >>>

NS2B:

GE All,

Another uneventful week. I've started chasing APRS on the ISS
now. They've moved to a UHF frequency and there hasn't been a
lot of activity on it yet. But I'm hopeful.

Went down to the track yesterday and flagged the Porsche Club
of America series. They're a well behaved bunch. They don't go
for that "rubbin' is racin'" thing.

Finished off Hamword today.

Made 1 HF packet contact last week. I guess the conditions we
have are what we have now.

I just heard of a new app called QSO1 - I guess it combines
Allstar and Echolink in one app. Sounds like it might be handy.

That's all for me. BTU Daryl >>>

NK5LA:

Bob, FB on APRS with the ISS, HamWord, and QSO1. On the Porsche
racers, it reminds me of the joke where the guy asked the blonde
to paint his porch...she painted his Porsche instead (hi hi).

GE Carl, how was your week?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

GE all on the net. I finally got my Skywarn spotter ID and
joined the local Skywarn net last week. The weather here is
getting warmer, but we are still a couple of weeks away from
the time that you can cook eggs on the sidewalk. At least
mornings are still fairly nice. Evenings are starting to
become the domain of the mosquito, unfortunately.

I have been updating some of my computers that I let get way
too out-of-date. Surprisingly, that has been going fairly
easily so far.

That's about it for me. Back to net >>>

**

NK5LA:

Carl, the mosquito is Arkansas' state insect...and in Louisiana,
they are combined with alligators (hi hi). I did the online
MetEd Skywarn Spotter Course, and passed. So I'm good on that
for another 5 years. As noted, the heat is here now.

GE Scott, how was your week?? >>>

**

K0WAV:

GE all well the week was up and down, but ended on a high note at
the Springfield, MO SMARC hamfest. Caught up with NT5R Charlie and
several other eyeball QSOs... didn't spend an overly big amount of
$$ but and old Yaesu mobile for node project. Also to one of the
Joplin club's famous antenna launchers, and a few bits and bobbles.

That was my week. Guess we are still waiting to see if the incoming
Solar Storms will be a G3+ or another fizzle, so there is that to
look forward to... BTU >>>

**

Scott, I heard it was at least a G3. FB on the Springfield
hamfest.

GE Dennis, how was your week?? >>>

**

KA3BVJ:

Hi. Hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but was cool today...

I am still working.

I did get the tomatoes planted.

We had a bad storm Saturday night power was off from 5:30 pm
to 10 Pm. Thats all from the under ground bunker.

**

Dennis, bummer on the power outages, but hope you got some good
rain. FB on the tomatoes...now I want a BLT (hi hi). It is summer
now, but the Christmas stuff will be up at the end of the month
(hi hi).

That's it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.

Bob, thanks for the use of the BBS, and getting my callsign
changed. Anything else?? >>>

**

NS2B:

Scott; I have one of those Joplin launchers - it's kinda fun! -
that's all for me - everyone have a good week - 73 >>>

**

NK5LA:

73, Bob...catch you next week.

Carl, anything else?? >>>

**

KX4AC:

Just put in my third guess for HAMWORD this week. Looks like it
will be at least until tomorrow that I finish it. Everyone have
a good week. We are ordering pizza as soon as the net finishes :-)
73 to all >>>

**

NK5LA:

Pardon me while I drool all over my keyboard (hi hi).

Take care, Carl...see you next time.

Scott, you get to put the ribbons on it, as Dennis was a 1 rounder >>>

**

K0WAV:

Well, in High School English we learned or "leard" an old English
phrase:

The life so short, the craft so long to learn. It seems that
the less time I have to do things the more things I want or need
to do... so it kinda of fits... GE everyone, have a great week
and thanks for the BBS Bob. 73! >>>

**

NK5LA:

Scott, that's so true. Thanks for being here.

That'll do it for tonight's net. I'll get the scribe out in the
morning, as I have to figure out the InstantInk deal with my new
printer. Stay on the cool side of the door, 73 and GN DE NK5LA >>>
