The release of the Wireless Institute of Australia Foundation Licence Manual, 5th Edition marks

numerous updates, rewrites and additions throughout.
The result is a modern learning resource that not only prepares candidates for the Foundation Licence
examination but also provides a broader introduction to radio and communications technology.

One of the most important changes is the extensive update of the regulations section,
reflecting the introduction of the Australian Amateur Radio Class Licence and other recent
regulatory changes.
Information relating to callsigns has also been revised, while the section covering the WIA Band Plan
has been updated to reflect current operating practices and spectrum usage.
For anyone entering amateur radio today, these changes ensure the manual aligns with the current
operating environment rather than historical arrangements that no longer apply.
The 5th Edition also introduces a brand-new appendix titled "Real World Passive Components".
This practical guide helps readers understand how to select the right components for RF projects
