By Monday, September 7, 2026, Central Americaâ€Ös meteorological services and civil protection agencies will keep active various surveillance warnings and institutional alerts for heavy coastal storms and floods.
The breakdown of current alerts and surveillance by country includes:
🇵🇦 Panama

Surveillance for Tropical Wave N. ° 43: The IMHPA keeps the Surveillance Notice for rains and storms active due to the passage of this system.
Highlands in the Pacific: A warning is issued for maximum tides that will reach 17.5 feet in the Gulf of Panama, which increases the risk of flooding if they coincide with the afternoon rains.
Critical areas: Special monitoring in Chiriqui, southern Veraguas, Azuero and Coclé.

🇨🇷 Costa Rica

Soil Saturation Alerts: The National Emergency Commission (CNE) will maintain alert conditions due to the high humidity left by recent tropical waves.
Alert Level: The Yellow Alert continues for the North, Central and South Pacific regions, in addition to the Central Valley. The Northern Zone and the Caribbean slope remain on Green Alert.

🇸🇻 El Salvador

Storm Surveillance and Urban Floods: The MARN maintains warnings of prevention by fast-commuting thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.
Critical Zones: Special monitoring in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador, San Miguel, La Libertad and the central volcanic chain for risk of falling trees and strong wind gusts above 40 km/h.

🇬🇹 Guatemala and 🇭🇳 Honduras

Warnings by Lahares and Fog: Guatemalaâ€Ös INSIVUMEH issues special surveillance for the decline of moderate to heavy lahars in the volcanoes of Fuego and Santiago due to accumulated rains.
Mountain Roads: The warning for extreme reduction of visibility due to dense fog banks in the Sierra Madre of Guatemala and the west of Honduras is maintained during the night.
