For tomorrow, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the regionâ€Ös meteorological and civil protection services maintain active monitoring focused primarily on the displacement of seasonal tropical waves, the instability of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ZCIT) and maritime warning conditions.
Below is the breakdown of surveillance notices and risk forecast for Central America tomorrow:
1. 🇵🇦 Panama: Surveillance and Rain Warnings
The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA) and SINAPROC keep alerts for moisture persistence and low pressure systems active:

Warning for Storms and Rains: For tomorrow it is expected that the ZCIT will interact with the local flow, causing the presence of showers of varied intensity. During the morning, the activity will be concentrated mainly in isolation in maritime areas, the region Guna Yala and Bocas del Toro. By the afternoon, conditions will intensify with moderate to strong dispersed downpours accompanied by electrical activity, with special emphasis on the Western Pacific (Chiriquí, Sur de Veraguas) and areas of the Central Mountains.
UV radiation and temperatures: Ultraviolet radiation rates are expected from very high to extremes (especially in the hours before the development of afternoon storms), with maximum temperatures ranging from 30°C to 32°C in lowlands, leading to a high thermal sensation.
Maritime Conditions: Precautionary notes are issued in the Pacific by chopped sea and the presence of fast return currents, so caution is recommended for minor vessels.

2. 🇨🇷 Costa Rica: Alerts for Tropical Wave
The National Emergency Commission (CNE) and IMN keep the Costa Rican soil under observation after the recent passage of the tropical wave of the season, which left saturated soils:

Alert Condition: Yellow Alert states remain in place for the Northern Zone and the Caribbean Slope, while the Central Valley, the Central Pacific and the South Pacific are on Green Alert.
Forecast for tomorrow: Daytime warming and Pacific moisture will reinforce isolated but intense event downpours on the mountain axis and the Central/South Pacific, with latent risks of small landslides due to the saturation of the land.

3. 🇬🇹 Guatemala, 🇸🇻 El Salvador and Honduras (North Central America)

Guatemala (INSIVUMEH): Maintains surveillance of elevated daytime temperatures in the northern regions (Petén) and the valleys of the east. By the afternoon, the inflow of moisture from both coasts will lead to short-lived scattered showers with electrical activity on the volcanic chain and the central highlands.
El Salvador and Honduras: The agencies foresee a classic rainy-era scenario with little cloudy skies in the morning, evolving into isolated convective storms at the end of the afternoon, associated with the passage of local homelifts of medium levels.

4. 🇳🇮 Nicaragua and 🇧🇿 Belize

Nicaragua (INETER): Weather surveillance for variable cloud cover. The highest odds of precipitation and occasional thunderstorms for tomorrow are located in the autonomous regions of the Caribbean (North and South Caribbean) and in sectors of the center of the country at night.
Winds of Papagayo: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) highlights that a moderate pressure gradient will hold fresh winds from the east over the Gulf of Papagayo towards the Nicaraguan and Costa Rican Pacific.

General Civil Protection Recommendations for Tomorrow:

Avoid crossing rivers, streams or flooded streets before sudden floods.
Safeguard in safe places during periods of electric shocks and strong wind gusts.
Stay informed exclusively through the official accounts of each country
